ABOUT U-30 RADIOAFICIONADOS LEONESES
The Radio Club Unidad 30 – Radioaficionados Leoneses (EA1RCU), with a 45-year of history since its foundation in 1981, is one of the oldest independent radio club in Spain.
«U-30 Radioaficionados Leoneses» was founded by thirty amateur radio operators driven by passion and initiative.
This association was headquartered at the León fire station from its inception until 2019, with antennas on the tower overlooking the entire city. Over the years, this location hosted courses in telegraphy, amateur radio introduction, electronics, equipment operation, and generally any subject the comunity required.
The King of Spain, His Majesty Juan Carlos I (EA0JC), as an amateur radio operator, was named honorary member. At an audience at the Royal Household, the appointment was personally presented to him and the ‘U-30 Gold and Diamond’ insignia of the association was imposed on him.
Since 2008, U-30 Radioaficionados Leoneses has been a member of the Digital Federation EA (FEDI-EA), an organization bringing together various amateur radio associations in Spain.
Now, without a physical headquarters, the association focuses its activities on activations, online courses and developing our website, which aims to provide resources for members and amateur radio operators in general, news, interesting facts and, above all, an introduction to amateur radio.
